Travel insurance for your Disneyland trip

January 24th, 2012

Travelling to the "happiest place on Earth" is often a dream holiday for children and adults alike.

Disneyland opened on July 18 1955 and is the only theme park to be designed and built under the direct supervision of Walt Disney himself.

Located in Anaheim, California, the theme park attracted almost 16 million visitors in 2010. The park is divided into "lands" - or themed areas - including Main Street USA, Adventureland, Frontierland, Fantasyland, Tomorrowland and Mickey's Toontown.

Visitors can seamlessly move from one to another and see familiar sites such as Sleeping Beauty's castle and Winnie the Pooh's Hundred Acre Wood, while popular rides include Space Mountain, Indiana Jones' Lost Temple and the iconic spinning teacups at the Mad Tea Party.

In 2001, the Disney California Adventure theme park was added - along with a new hotel - and the focus was shifted to the Downtown Disney dining, shopping and entertainment complex now known as Disneyland Resort.

New attractions now include the Hollywood Pictures Backlot, Muppet Vision 3D experience, Paradise Pier and A Bug's Land.

Whilst roaming around the parks, visitors are able to interact with all of their favourite Disney characters, who are more than happy to have their photograph taken and provide a signature.

Throughout the day, parades regularly occur along the streets, while as the day draws to a close you can enjoy the spectacular twilight shows such as World of Colour and Fantasmic.

Despite being the happiest place on earth, an exciting journey to Disneyland is not without its potential dangers. Like any other trip, it is always advised that you with are covered by a comprehensive travel insurance policy - protecting you against issues such as theft or injury.

Once you have exhausted all that Disneyland has to offer, you may also wish to explore some other sites that California has to offer, including Los Angeles, San Francisco or Yosemite National Park.
